若いころから虎の絵を描くように父親から言われていたのに、なかなか書くことがなかった志功さんが、ようやく仏教と虎の因縁をみつけて、亡くなる１年前の昭和４９年度の日展に出品した作品です。From a young age, Shiko had been encouraged by his father to paint tigers, yet he rarely did so. Eventually, he discovered the profound Buddhist connection between the tiger and the story of self-sacrifice.This work, Shashin Ko — The Bodhisattva Feeding Himself to the Tiger, was finally created and exhibited at the 1974 Nitten exhibition, just one year before Shiko’s death.
